01 How to Be a Great Manager
In this session, participants will become aware of the mistakes that (new) managers make, why these mistakes are made and how to avoid them. We'll discuss what good managers do; looking deeply at motivation, purpose, mastery, autonomy, radical candour and coaching.
This session introduces Lencioni’s 5 Dysfunctions pyramid to contemplate how team decisions are made, how they can be improved, how high the level of trust is within a team, and how conflict manifests within a team. Participants will consider how the inability to avoid these dysfunctions can lead to a lack of growth, as well as how overcoming these dysfunctions can build a great team.
This session focuses on Hersey and Blanchard's situational leadership model to explain how the highest probability of success can be achieved by choosing the right leadership style for the right people. Participants will learn about the pros and cons on moving between different management styles, how styles can be adapted based on tasks, and how to create a supportive environment that is characterized by trust, empowerment, and accountability.
04 Giving and Receiving Feedback
In this session, participants will learn about different types of feedback, why it's necessary, and how to deal with conflicts that may arise during the process. We will practice active listening, demonstrate emotional intelligence, and tailor our approach to different personality types to create a conducive environment for feedback. By the end of the session, participants will have practical skills to provide effective feedback, build a feedback culture, and overcome the main barriers to feedback.
Skills gained: Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Constructive Feedback
This session focuses on why performance needs to be managed, key elements of brilliant performance management, and actions for uplifting performance management approaches. Participants will be introduced to Deci and Ryan's self-determination theory and how it can be used to create actionable steps to produce desired outcomes, as well as how performance reviews can be made more meaningful, motivating, and developmentally focused.
Intense, dynamic and immersive sessions for rapid skill enhancement.
